Trauma Informed Teaching Infographic

Helping others work through their trauma holds a very special place in my heart as I have spent the last decade learning how to move through my own trauma inflicted through decades of emotional and sexual abuse. Through my own healing, I have come to understand how the trauma brain functions, and what that looks like in regards to children, their learning. and their behaviors. I have taken workshops on trauma in the nervous system, working through traumatic events, and holding space for those who are triggered, and when it came to an infographic assignment in our Child Development class, I chose to create one on trauma-informed practices for educators. My hope is to provide information to educators to help them understand more about trauma, and what that can do to young children and their ability to learn. Traumatic experiences can colour our interaction with the world, but it isn’t a life sentence. With support, connection and safety, we can help children move past their trauma and regain their sense of self.
